School Starts Tomorrow
School Tomorrow –
Day 41 Mar 17
Last day of the holidays!
I am a little apprehensive of
travelling to rural Cambodia tomorrow to stay for a week at the school Juan and
others have been building. I haven’t even
done my homework really.
I have:
Jo and Taran who are keen and
Jo has packed clean sheets
Four lesson plans from Paul
A full orientation program
from Juan to further bolster our conviction that this is a worthy and happy
undertaking.
The knowledge, gathered over
many years I might add, that life cannot be one long holiday (boo hoo).
A glowing ember of enthusiasm to attempt
empowerment of powerless youths and a smidgeon of belief that I (and they) might
derive satisfaction from it.
We and our friends have raised
£1500 (so far) for the school so have been helpful anyway and have plenty of
names to put on bricks and trees. Thank you.
A bit of a dread of heat,
mosquitos, poor hygiene, bad food and closed communities of strangers.
I shall try. We shall see. We can always bail out if we don’t like it. No bad feelings folks.
Today we temporarily moved our
apartment base for 2 weeks; same rent at $12 per night but much more dusty and
no Sangker; the bar lounging cat. We shall
return.
We will as the plan is to end
up helping in another of Juan’s school much nearer Battambang and for a longer
time.
Everyone feeling a little uncertain
and the move didn’t help but we went to the riverside gardens for a bit of
civic evening park life. It is a
civilized and peaceful place and time of day.
Jo and Taran joined in the exercise
class. I watched. I can never get the steps right. Is it a bloke thing?
I think you worry too much about getting the steps right. No one gets them completely right😉
ReplyDeleteCan’t wait to hear about the school.
