Time Torn Temple Tour
Wednesday 13th March 2019 (Day 36).S
Today was
our second ‘Time-Torn Temple Tour’ – although I usually like to add the words
tortuously hot in there as well - which was used with much blood, sweat, tears
and toil – due to the heat and long, tiresome standing/walking periods – to
explore the last of the nearby must-see sites (Banteay Kdei, Neak Pean, Preah
Khan, and Bayon) where we did and saw many lovely things including: I fed a
pair of pale grey monkeys two rubbery, warm, and squashed bananas – although they
didn’t seem to mind - from hand to hand (they were very cool about it and
didn’t snatch);
Mum spotted four carbon-black water buffaloes peacefully
grazing on the horizon; and Dad, well, he just broke his new, but cumbersome
straw hat with neon yellow strings – or in his words ‘ the new Khmer fashion of
2019 ‘ – good riddance I say.
Still, what amazed me most
today was the endless extent of flawless carvings of day to day life on an
unbroken wall in Bayon; and the gargantuan carved faces of long deceased kings
and ancient Hindu gods which were transferred from giant Buddhas’ heads.
P.S. I acknowledge that some
of my recent blogs have been a little grim and indetailed; this is certainly
not the dominant mood here, we are having an excellent time. I promise, the Sun/positivity is on its way. YAY!
Obviously when I refer to the
Sun I am talking about it figuratively because the sun is always shining here
(except for at night time).

I can tell the heat is a problem. Are you getting used to it at all?
ReplyDeleteWhat about the school? Aren’t you supposed to be volunteering in a school?
