Carpark to Beach to Turkey

Our wild camp spot today was a carpark in Toxotes.   It was located (yet again) by a very beautiful river.  We were here to do some rafting but ended up spending the morning homeschooling while Kelty took a train ride through the famous gorge to yet another deserted village.  He sat in a quiet cafe, read the news and then came back.

Taran and I meanwhile had done our hour of English while locals on their work break, coach loads of school kids, dog walkers all came and went around our van wondering what we were doing.  It did feel a little claustrophobic and bit like we were in a zoo as they passed and stared but served its purpose for a night. And when Kelty returned we spent a fun afternoon in the river doing 'the rope challenge' in a fast flowing current (but don't worry Mum it was very shallow!)

and a little fishing

Then to a beach in Mandra and our last night in Greece.  We parked next to a very cool converted landrover which belonged to a Dutch couple Caspar and Lara who had quit their jobs and were driving to Azerbajan over 8 months.  We swapped 'on the road' tips re camping although they were able and our blog details.  Caspar had just had a hip replacement (in his thirties) which triggered the idea to travel and he loves to go as far off track as his vehicle can take him.

Opposite us was a charming Bulgarian family who had driven 5 hrs from Plovdiv for a reunion with old school friends and whose son Goorgo became very keen on Taran and his football.

From here to the border.  4340 km and here we are, we made it to Turkey.  WOW! (that's our van's name in case forgotten)
