Tennis lesson, bridge jumping and waterfalls
DAY 127 Thursday June 20th
Taran was keen to try out a clay court and I was just keen to play some tennis. We cycled off from our our small deserted riverside campsite which Adis had just opened 20 days before. He has clearly put everything into this new venture and sits there with his girlfriend all day waiting for customers like us who find him on google. I hope it works out for him.
We cycled around the back streets of Mostar and found a tennis centre, which turned out to be where Djocovic has won an U18 title. Lots of young sporty looking kids were hanging out with severe looking parents. The coach was in the middle of training two impressive hard hitting girls but kindly offered Taran a lesson and then a knock up with me for 20 minutes. I felt like a professional for my short session, and inpsired by the girls next to me in 32 degree heat I was slamming the ball back and forth with a professional circuit coach. I'm not sure what he made of me dressed in rolled up pyjama like trousers and a flowery ripped shirt.

Mostar bridge is famous for its height, curved prettiness and people daring to jump off it. Taran was keen to join the 1,000 who have already done it and get his certificate but we found out that you need to be 25 to do it. I was relieved to hear this as he was insisting. A local diver trains you briefly and then in front of crowds of eagerly watching tourists you jump a few hours later. I was standing behind the latest daredevil. A young kid from America. He succeeded but it looked so scary as I watched his feet leave the side.
Mostar was teeming with tourists so we headed off on the road to Croatia via the also very popular tourist destination Kravica Falls but the refreshing swim was worth it.
Two hours later we were installed at a very picturesque campsite Camp Ponta on the Croatian peninsula of Peljesac near Dubrovnik. This was a recommendation of a Slovenian family that we met whilst queueing to get over the Bulgarian border. See Kelty's next blog for description.
